Obituary of Nancy Moline
Nancy Jean Moline, 86-Duluth, MN, died peacefully surrounded by family on March 21, 2020. Born Nancy Jean Melander in Duluth, Minnesota on April 28, 1933, she lived a full and wonderful life devoted to her loving husband Don and family.
Nancy was the youngest of three daughters, a graduate of Stanbrook Hall, telephone operator at Northwestern Bell and life long resident of Duluth. She married the love of her life, Donald Moline, in May 1954 and they were together for almost 65 years. Family was the most important part of Nancy’s life and she was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Holidays and family gatherings were deeply important to Nancy and brought her great joy. These traditions were steadfast over many decades.
Nancy adored her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Grandma Nan’s grilled cheese, brownies and banana bread were family favorites. She faithfully attended all of her grandchildren’s school activities and especially enjoyed watching them play hockey and golf.
Nancy enjoyed many summer vacations at the family cabin in Nestor Falls, Ontario. When the children were grown she and Don vacationed in Sarasota, Florida. Nancy took up golf later in life and established herself as the “best putter” while playing with family and friends. She is an honorary member of Northland Country Club.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Don, mother Agnes Melander, and sister Betty Boyle.
Nancy is survived by her children, Linda Moline (Phil Kneeland) Orlando, FL, Gary Moline (Mary) Duluth, Susan Liberty (Brian) Duluth; grandchildren, David Moline (Rachel), Daniel Moline (Carrie), Lisa Filzen (Justin) and Joe Liberty; great grandchildren, Benjamin, Madison, Joshua, Jed, Sofia, and Wes; sister, Lois Nicholson of Green Valley, AZ.
The family sincerely thanks all of Nancy’s caregivers at Ecumen Lakeshore, Home Instead Senior Care, St. Luke’s Hospice, and Solvay Hospice House.
