Obituary of Martti Henrick Rahkola

He grew up in Kalajoki and moved to the United States with his family in 1955 where they lived in the Toivola area for many years. In the last few years he settled in Duluth. Martti was a longtime member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church on Ryan Road. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Rahkola and sister, Mirja. Martti will be greatly missed by his step children, Sandra (Michael) Dobrava, Carolyn (Charles) Blomquist, Linda (Robert) Hiivala, Judith (Dennis) Stolp, Michael (Bonnie) Simonson, Daniel (Darci) Simonson, Steven (Judith) Simonson, Karen (John) Bruckelmyer, Paul (Mayme) Simonson, and Lori (Calvin) Raisanen; numerous grand, great, and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Tuula (Bruce) Hill and Maila Esterberg; nieces and nephews; and a host of Christian friends. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 5755 Ryan Road, Duluth. The visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Friday, February 9, 2018 in the church. Interment will be in Sunrise Cemetery.
