Robert Masterson, age 93, passed away November 5, 2018. He was born August 10, 1925 in Virginia, MN to Hugh and Bess Masterson. He served from the fall of 1943 to the spring of 1946 in WWII in the Navy in the South Pacific.
On September 10, 1941, Robert married Betty Peterson of Proctor. They were married for 63 wonderful years until her death in 2010. Robert was employed by the DM&IR Railroad for 42 years as a pipefitter. He and Betty spent many winters retiring in Mission and McAllen, Texas.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; brother, James and sisters, Patricia May, Janet Kruchowski, Jean Foster and Phyllis Johnson.
Robert is survived by his four children, Susan Ellefson of Green Bay, WI, Mark (Christine) Masterson of Duluth, Leah Busch of Green Bay, WI and Peter (Jill) Masterson of Rogers, MN; his nine grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Ellefson, Melissa (Michael) Huray, Angela (Greg) Mattsen, Elizabeth Masterson, Emily Masterson, Alyssa (Luke) Schultz, Lindsay (Israel) Prenger, and Jack and Cole Masterson; 11 great-grandchildren; he is further survived by his many nieces and nephews and special friend, Clareen Johnson.
Robert would like to thank the Superior VA Clinic-physicians, nurses, and staff for their wonderful care. He would also like to thank Dr. Knudsen and the Hermantown Clinic. Robert thanks Essentia Health Hospice, Dan Green, RN and Kristy for their kind, expert care.
Finally, Robert thanks Perkins West for their wonderful service, friendship and hot coffee over the years.
