Joan Brennan

Obituary of Joan M. Brennan

Joan was born in Duluth on February 27, 1934 to Dilmer (Slim) and Cecila Anderson, who preceded her in death. Joan grew up in West Duluth and graduated from Denfeld High School. On August 11, 1956 Joan married Pat Brennan, who preceded her in death in 1999. Joan loved anything strawberry related and spent many hours picking wild strawberries in the fields across from her home on Cody Street. One of the things Joan enjoyed the most was baking. There were always plenty of fresh baked treats when she had coffee with her neighbors, friends and at her many AVON parties. Joan enjoyed watching dirt track racing with her family - especially at Proctor Speedway, but once every fall the family would take a trip to Thunder Bay, Ontario for a weekend of races. Joan and Pat made many friends in the dirt track racing circuit over the years. When the Marlane Shop in West Duluth was open, Joan enjoyed helping out there for many years. West Duluth was Joan’s home and Spirit Valley Days and the parade were a highlight of her summer! One of Joan’s other favorite things was going to their camper at Fish Lake where the family spent their summer vacations and Joan and Pat spent many weekends on the lake fishing. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Pat; son Scott; in-laws Bud & Isabelle Brennan; brother-in-law Richard Olson; and nephew Mark Olson. She is survived by, son Bill (Kari) Brennan; daughter Sue (Rich) Richardson; sister Barb Olson; sister-in-law Corky (Bruce) Duncan; nieces Gloria (Larry) Allan, Linda (Al) Eickstadt, great nephews Jeremy (Samantha) Allan & Kale Eickstadt; great nieces Amanda Allan & Delani (Andrew) Cole. The family would like to thank the staff of The North Shore Estates for their many years of taking care of Joan. Thank you also to St Croix Hospice for their care of Joan in her final weeks.
