Frederick Lee Martin, 83, passed peacefully to be with his Lord on September 10, 2018 while in hospice care at St. Luke’s. Freddie was born in Duluth, MN on May 13, 1935 to Fred (Bud) and Florence (Futch) Martin. They knew he was a gift and that even though his life would be full of challenges, he was well equipped and loved enough to overcome all.
Freddie had a very special way of putting people at ease and connecting with them. His ability to communicate with kids and teach them his games was a skill that he honed for his entire life. From growing up in Lakeside, to standing in front of the house on West 8th Street, to his retirement years in Las Vegas, Fred touched many lives.
He loved to go for rides and take the “scenic route” whenever possible. Heavy equipment, construction sites, loud pipes, and airplanes always gave him a thrill. Fred also loved his people. Throughout his life, wherever he was, he always built a network of friends close by that watched out for him and enjoyed his company.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Randine Okoneski.
He is survived by his Brother, Art (Paddy) Martin, Sister, Val (Tom) Ciurleo, Brother, Jerry (Linda) Martin, Sister, Bunnie Katich, many adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins, and countless friends spanning his lifetime.
Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Forest Hill Cemetery Chapel, 2516 Woodland Ave., Duluth. Please leave a memory of Frederick at www.bellbrothersfuneralhome.com
