Obituary of Richard Frank Olson

Dick graduated from Duluth Central High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. After serving his country he received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting at U.M. D. On May 19, 1962 he married the love of his life, Joan Cashin in Duluth. He worked his whole career as an accountant retiring from St. Louis County. Before her retired, he was the treasurer for the Duluth Figure Skating Club for a number of years. After retiring he was very active volunteering for the Damiano Center and ringing bells for the Salvation Army. He was very active in all sports, but his true passion was that he loved to golf. He was very involved with his grandchildren and rarely would he miss a sporting event that they were involved with. Dick had a great sense of humor and was always trying to make people laugh. Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Gene; and son-in-law, Jon. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Joan Olson of Duluth; daughters, Kristin (Steve) Bergerson of Duluth, Karen Urban of Superior, and son, Tom (Laura) Olson of Cloquet; and four grandsons, Hunter, Cale, Cason, and Cody. Visitation: 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N 56th Ave. West, Duluth. Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery.
